Verification parameters and purchase proof

This page documents exactly how an airline, hotel, or booking platform earns a score on this site, written the way we'd hand it to an editor on day one.

What we do

TravelReviewss is a review, comparison, and guide publication — not a booking service. We test airlines, hotels, and the booking platforms that sell them by buying real reservations, using them, and recording what happened between checkout and check-out. We publish the score, the price we actually paid, and the receipt reference — not a summary written from a press kit.

How we verify a stay or booking

Each review starts with a real transaction on a card we hold for testing. For hotels, we stay at least two nights and compare the room we're given against the listing photos and description. For flights and booking platforms, we repeat the same route across a testing window and screenshot the checkout flow at every step. Either way, we store the confirmation and final charge amount before the review is drafted.

  • Route, dates, or room type are fixed in advance and booked identically across everything under test.
  • Checkout price is compared line-by-line against the advertised search-result price.
  • Cancellation and refund policies are tested by actually cancelling a subset of bookings.
  • Customer support response time is logged from a real ticket, not a simulated one.

What we score

Every review scores against the same four categories, regardless of niche: pricing accuracy at checkout, service reliability (on-time performance, room condition, or support resolution), policy transparency, and value relative to the price paid. Scores are numeric, published in full, and never averaged upward to round out a category.

What we don't do

  • We don't accept payment in exchange for a favorable score or a ranking position.
  • We don't publish a review of an airline, hotel, or platform we haven't personally booked and used.
  • We don't remove a low score after a provider requests a re-review — a re-test gets a new dated entry instead.
  • We don't process bookings, payments, or reservations ourselves — every "Read the review" link points to editorial content, not a checkout.

Corrections

If a fare, rate, fee, or policy we documented has since changed, tell us through the contact page and we'll re-test the specific claim before editing the published number.
